Rebirth Brass Band 29th Anniversary Celebration FRIDAY & SATURDAY

Who’s the HOTTEST damn band in the land?!??!?!

If you didn’t scream out “THE REBIRTH BRASS BAND” from the top of your lungs than you don’t know nothing! It’s hard to believe that Rebirth formed their Grammy Award Winning band 29 years ago but it’s true! And just like we celebrate everything else in New Orleans, WE’RE THROWING A PARTY! Come out Saturday, May 26th to The Howlin Wolf to witness a once in a lifetime event as we pay homage to & party with New Orleans’ favorite band!

On Friday & Saturday night, Rebirth will take the stage with SURPRISE Special Guest performances going on all night. It’s a Brass Band PARTY so when we say ALL NIGHT we mean ALL NIGHT! Also, Rebirth knows how much their Grammy means to you so their bringing it with em! Just as our beloved Saints paraded their Lombardi Trophy around town, Rebirth is going to make sure that everyone who played a part in their success has a chance to revel in it as well. #FestByNight is over :-(

Yes, yes ladies and gents! Unfortunately, Jazz Fest & our Fest By Night festivities have come to a close.:-(   So sad, but true.

We had an phenomenal time with you and the wonderful performers who graced our stage. This year was super special!!  In true Howlin’ Wolf fashion, we brought you legendary artists, crazy jam sessions, and once in a life time performances. Don’t you wish you could just relive it ALL!?!? Thanks to these new fangled digital camera thingys we’ve captured some of #FestByNight’s greatest moments.

Tonight is THE LAST SHOW of #FestByNight and we are going out with a BANG! So far we’ve given you a Radiators reunion, The Original Meters, The Megalomaniacs Ball, The Royal Family Ball, 7 Walkers, the New Orleans Allstars & lots & lots of Brass. You think that would be enough right!? WRONG! #FestByNight is back with what we can only call ‘a lil Lagniappe’.

Get ready to party to one of the most awesome jam sessions you’ll ever experience. TONIGHT live on stage is Zigaboo’s Funk Revue with George Porter Jr. and the Runnin’ Pardners and Late Night Super Jam w/ Leo Nocentelli (the Meters), John Gros (Papa Grows Funk), Russell Batiste (funky Meters) , Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Joe Krown, Erick “Jesus” Coomes (Lettuce) and very special guests all for 30 bucks.

Tonight is our last show! If you haven’t been to any yet; we know you’ve heard about em’! Don’t wuss out, we know tomorrow is Monday but TONIGHT is the last night

Show # 9 Fest By Night, Saturday May 5, 2012: The Original Meters + Papa Grows Funk, and Rebirth Brass Band

Even though The Howlin’ Wolf was rockin’ til the early morn at the Bayou Rendezvous last night, we’re back at it tonight with another showing of epic-ness! The Original Meters are blessing the Howlin’ Wolf stage in front of a sold out crowd for their first New Orleans club show in 30 years!!! Art Neville, Leo Nocentelli, George Porter Jr., and Zigaboo Modeliste were the soulful sound of the sixties and are true ambassadors of New Orleans funk. But the funk doesn’t stop there…we had to bring Papa Grows Funk back to get the party started!! If you were lucky enough to get a ticket, prepare yourself to witness a legendary showing of funk masters!

If you weren’t lucky enough to snatch one, Rebirth Brass Band will also be hitting the stage tonight! Tickets will be available at the door after The Meters perform. Fest By Night is coming to a close, but we’re going out in style! See y’all tonight!

TONIGHT: Show #4 Fest By Night “The Doctor Is In” A Benefit for Roots of Music, Sweet Home New Orleans and Trombone Shorty’s Horns for Schools Program featuring Rebirth Brass Band with Big Sam , Kermit Ruffins & The BBQ Swingers & more..

After 3 days of non-stop musical excellence here at #FestByNight, we take one night to recognize the vital role music plays in our city. Show #4 of #FestByNight is “The Doctor Is In”, A Benefit for Roots of Music, Sweet Home New Orleans and Trombone Shorty’s Horns for Schools Program.
Now when we say “benefit”, we you don’t want you to think this is going to just be like any ole’ benefit. This will be the loudest, funkiest benefit in the history of benefits! We’ve got ReBirth Brass Band, Big Sam, Kermit Ruffins & the Barbecue Swingers, Jeremy Davenport, Baby Boyz Brass Band, YoJimbo and many, MANY more! I don’t know exactly how many more but this is New Orleans! You never know who might be strolling by coincidentally carrying their horn on a night like this. Also, right next door, we’ll have the Hot 8 Brass Band blowing it down in The Den!

Be sure to come out tonight because there won’t be any shows on Monday. We figured we’d give your ear drums a little break. Most of you aren’t from New Orleans and we veterans know that the key to good festin’ is all about pacing yourself. So come out tonight, take a breather on Monday and then meet us back at the Wolf Tuesday night for the New Orleans Suspects, Camile Baudoin & The Living Rumors, Dave Malone & a VERY special guest.

Show # 1 Fest By Night Thursday 4/26 “Brass Band Blowout” plus RADIO RADIO in The Den

What are you gonna be doing next Thursday night? Can everyone say, “Partying at the Howlin Wolf!!! I think you can.

We’re kicking off our annual Fest by Night celebration with our Brass Band Blowout! For only $20, you get three bands for the price of one. And we’re not just talking about any Brass Bands… We’re talking Rebirth, Hot 8, and TBC!!! The night starts off at 8pm in the den with Comedy Gumbeaux showcasing New Orleans’ best comedians. After the laughs, Radio Radio,  an electro hip-hop band from Canada, will take over the spot and rock out in The Den. At 10pm on the main stage the Brass Band Blowout will be in full swing so make sure you get there early!

TONIGHT: Show #2 Fest By Night Friday 4/27 “Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Papa Grows Funk & Rebirth Brass Band”

Who knows what happens when you get a Rebirth of Ivan Neville in a Dumpsta filled with Funk that Papa Grow? WE DO!!!! You get Show #2 of Fest By Night at The Howlin Wolf. Let us explain. Show #2 isn’t just any show and there are three things you need to know in order to be prepared for what you’re about to witness.

Thing one: If you happen to make Show #1, The Brass Band Blowout, there is no way you want to miss show #2. Grammy Award winning Rebirth Brass Band is back at Fest By Night for their second night in the row. If you’ve ever seen Rebirth two nights in a row than you know that the second night will be totally different from the first. It’s just what they do. That’s one thing, on to thing 2.

Thing two: Dumpstaphunk & Papa Grows Funk will each play their own separate sets but at some point during the night, members from both bands will come together for a super jam session.  Basically what we’re telling you is that you’re getting 4 bands for the price of 3. You lucky dog you! Okay, focus, there’s one more thing.

Thing three: The last thing you need to know about Show # 2 is that IT’S ABOUT TO GET PHUNKY!

FEST BY NIGHT!

It’s here again! The time of year where every one of your senses can indulge on unique Louisiana culture. Whether it’s the food, art or the music. And this Jazz Fest season, we have all the music you can handle. The first weekend begins with a Brass Band Blowout featuring Rebirth & Hot 8 on Thursday, April 26th and ending Sunday, the 29th featuring Rebirth with Big Sam and Kermit Ruffins. The second weekend starts that Tuesday with the New Orleans Suspects and extends all weekend until Sunday, May 6th with Zigaboo’s Funk Revue featuring George Porter, Jr. And we eagerly await our SOLD OUT show featuring The Meters on May 5th. Other artists include Papa Grows Funk, Soulive, Leftover Salmon, Dumpstaphunk, Lettuce, Garage a Trois, Anders Osborne and many more. See the full list of shows and get your tickets HERE!
